The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria
is pleased to offer the following 6-day immersion session on PLANNING
FOR CHANGE IN CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS for professionals in museums and
related organizations.

PLANNING FOR CHANGE IN CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS

Effective planning establishes the foundation on which cultural
organizations grow, change, adapt, and prosper in an uncertain world.
This course explores the pervasive forces of change that are reshaping
contemporary museum roles and practices, and focuses on the ways in
which you can anticipate and lead change to ensure institutional
success. You strengthen your ability to:

        * recognize the range of social, economic, and political
factors that influence change
        * defend core museum principles and roles in the context
of change
        * use a range of planning tools to anticipate and shape
your museum's response to change
        * analyze the implications of change
        * implement and manage change strategies

The critical roles of community values and organizational mission in the
planning process are stressed throughout the course.

Instructor: Gail Lord is Principal of Lord Cultural Resources, Planning
and Management, and has extensive international experience in planning
for museums and other cultural organizations.

Dates: February 4 - 9, 2002 with a preparatory assignment

Registration deadline: January 9

to organize chaos."

"Gail has a natural gift for teaching; she also has tremendously
interesting experience; knowledgeable, insightful, curious, modest,
funny -- obviously a great person to work with and for."

The choice is yours. To make the most of this exciting professional
development opportunity you may wish register in this course as a
non-credit participant or if you are interested in pursuing further
studies, you can register as a credit participant. The academic credit
