IPAM Partnership Opportunities Still Available with South American and
Eastern European Museums

AAM has received a grant from the Lampadia Foundation to connect American
museums with institutions in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile through the
International Partnership Among Museums (IPAM) program. Two partnership
awards are made per country. The following institutions have been nominated
but still need partners:
Museum of the Pink House (Presidential Palace), Buenos Aires, Argentina
La Sabastiana (historic home of poet Pablo Neruda), Valparaíso, Chile
R.P. Gustavo le Paige Museum & Institute of Archaeological Research, San
Pedro, Chile.

AAM is also seeking U.S. partners for the art museums in Eastern Europe:
S. Amiranashvilla Georgian Museum of Art, Tbilisi, Georgia
Kazakh State Museum of Fine Arts, Almaty, Kazakhstan
The Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Art, St. Petersburg, Russia
Museum of Contemporary Art, Skopje, Macedonia.

In order to assist in the partnering of these institutions, IPAM is
reopening its application process to U.S. museums interested in working with
one of the foreign institutions listed here. IPAM supports the exchange of
mid-level museum staff for minimum 31-day residencies to conduct joint or
complementary projects. These projects may involve, but are not limited
to: educational programs, exhibition development and design, community
outreach, strategic planning and marketing, and cultural tourism.

Any U.S. museum interested in submitting an application to pursue this
unique opportunity should contact the IPAM office at AAM by November 30,
1999.  Contact Lee Bickerstaff, Program Associate of International Programs;
202-289-9115; fax: 202-289-6578; email: [log in to unmask]
