We have a Security/Safety officer on staff and a standing staff
committee on Safety and Protection and carry out unannounced
emergency drills at least once a year, sometimes twice. We have
to coordinate the drill with the University's Risk Management office
and police department. Its not required by any city, county or state
ordinane that I'm aware of. For one drill we got a group of school
kids to help us to nake sure that gallery attendants knew how to evacuate
visitors from public areas of the museum.

Once a month does seem a bit excessive, however.
