Looking for advice on a different topic:

We would like to begin accessioning digital files -- image scans to begin
with, possibly other documents in the future. More and more we are able to
receive certain unique items in digital format only (especially as the use
of digital cameras proliferates). Producing paper prints of these would be
cost-prohibitive and raises, for me, preservation concerns regarding
ink-jet
quality; they are important to our collection and we do not want to simply
store low-quality print-outs in donor or subject files. We've set up
storage
on our server for the digital files and I am crafting a policy, but haven't
gotten any further.

My question -- anyone doing anything similar? (I searched the list archives
but didn't find anything.) And, what nomenclature are you using for digital
files?
