If done right, I think this could be a viable stop-gap measure until a
more permanent system to repel the squirrels can be put in place.  You
just need to be sure that you shoot the squirrel and not your building.
:)  There are people out there that sometimes hunt and eat squirrels.
If they are any good, they should be able to kill the squirrel quickly
and painlessly and than properly dispose of the remains.  If you have a
local hunting club, they may be able to help.
