 I totally agree with Elizabeth you have to add to the list.  What I'm
 confused about is where the idea came from that you can't add to the list?
 I looked it up in my copy of revised nomenclature and it has a whole
section
 in the front of the book on how to appropriately add to the list.

 As far as your iron question.  The copy of revised nomenclature that I have
does not have flatiron in it.  Sadirons or  flat irons are a solid iron that
is either heated on the stove or is electric or gas powered.  The use of the
term iron would probably refer to the type of iron that is commom today that
can hold water and create stream, but i'm not sure about that.  If all of
you irons are 19th century styles (or very early 20th) or before then I
would use the term sadiron.  If you need assistance in identifying the types
of sadirons that you have, you should get some period or reproduction
hardware catalogs which will give you a large selection to compare yours to.
