Kate,

Cape Fear Museum celebrated it's 100 anniversary in 1998 with a Centennial
Exhibit. I believe one reason it was so well received was due to our
display of many objects that normally would not have seen the light of day.
We even went so far as to resurrect one of our old oak and glass display
cases to bring back the feel of "the good old days." The exhibit also had
a controversial element since it dealt with the Riot of 1898. The staff
certainly enjoyed learning more about the long history of our institution
and I believe the public did as well.

Tim, Harry -

In 2092 someone will be thankful that there are objects to go with the
photos celebrating the museum's 100th anniversary of the groundbreaking - I
feel certain of this. (Even though I wouldn't have wanted to accession it
either).
