Someone inquired recently about how to set up a travelling exhibition. I

just got a flier from the Butterworth Heinemann publishers featuring a

new book that might be of interest. "Touring Exhibitions: The Touring

Exhibitions Group's Manual of Good Practice," edited by Mike Sixsmith,

published in 1995, 256 pp, paperback, ISBN 0 7506 2518 X, $66.95 is

described as providing "comprehensive and practical guidance for both

organizing and hosting touring exhibitions. It is as relevant to arts

centers, libraries and informal exhibition areas as to museums and

galleries. The purpose of 'Touring Exhibitions' is to establish and

disseminate best practice. It draws on the experience of 53 experts

working in museums, galleries and related institutions throughout Great

Britain. Each expert has provided practical advice, supported with

appropriate examples and illustrations, on an issue relevant to touring."
