Regarding recruitment for volunteers, we have had success with the web site  www.volunteermatch.org .  VolunteerMatch is a nonprofit, online service in which someone can enter their zip code, interests, and schedule availability, and then the site lists possible matches in their community.  From an organizational standpoint, it is a simple process to enter volunteer opportunities, and can be updated frequently.
