Assistant Registrar
The Louisiana State Museum, in the New Orleans' French Quarter, has an
opening for an Assistant Registrar, working with the Registrar to create,
organize and maintain orderly forms, legal documents, files and retrieval
systems associated with accessioning, cataloguing, loans, packing, shipping,
inventory, insurance and storage. The Assistant Registrar is also
responsible for the research of records to establish clear status and
ownership of Museum collection objects. The Louisiana State Museum is a
historical, cultural, and educational institution whose primary purpose is
to collect, preserve, and present, as an educational resource, objects of
art, documents, artifacts, and the like that reflect the history, art, and

Requirements are a baccalaureate degree (as master's degree is preferred) in
American history, American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art history,
cultural geography, historic preservation, history, historical geography,
museum studies, museology or fine arts, followed by three (3) years of
professional level museum curatorial experience. Salary: $1917-$3165/mo.
