I am looking for anyone who is familiar with the Japanese Internment
(concentration) camps
that were built ca. 1940-42 for thousands of Japanese Americans.

Hi John;

Are you looking specifically for American-built internment camps?
There were a number built in southern Alberta to house Japanese
Canadians during the war; the Galt Museum in Lethbridge recently (2003)
did an exhibit that, in part, looked at this piece of Japanese Canadian
history. They're in the midst of renovations right now, so I don't know
if anyone there would be able to assist you at the present time (I'm not
sure if their archives are accessible during the renos), however, they
might be able to help in some way.  The Galt's website is at;

http://www.galtmuseum.com/index.htm

From there you can find their "Contacts" page, and address your inquiry
accordingly.

Hope that helps,
