I am in the process of developing Transfer of Gift and
Contract forms to be used in securing photographs for our
Image Collections in the Library of the
California Academy of Sciences. The intended use for
images in the Collection is mainly non-profit educational
and research, however, we also receive and fill requests for
          for-profit reproduction of our photographs.

We are presently soliciting photographs for a specific
project; Manzanita Project, A digital image-base of
California plants and animals that will be linked to
scientific information about each species and will be
accessible on the World Wide Web. We would like to obtain
unlimited educational/nonprofit use of photographs that we
acquire for non-profit ventures such as the Manzanita
Project, but allow photographers a percentage of revenue
generated from for-profit reproduction of their work. We
would like to develop a standard contract with a few
          variations for different scenarios.

Does anyone from similar institutions have good examples of
contracts with photographers or transfer of gift forms that
you could pass on to me?

Any other comments or advice on this issue would be
          appreciated.

          Thanks,

          Beth Ryan
