There has never been a better time to apply to the Conservation Assessment
Program!

CAP grant applications were mailed on October 6, 2000 and the postmark deadline
of December 1, 2000 is now just one month away.  Funding is still available for
the 2001 application cycle but remember that CAP grants are awarded to eligible
museums on a first-come, first-served basis.

CAP is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and
administered by Heritage Preservation.  The program provides funding for professional
conservators to conduct a survey of a museum's collections, environmental
conditions, and historic buildings.  The assessment process and resulting reports can
help museums develop strategies for improved collections care, long-range
conservation planning, and fund-raising.

It is not too late to get an application!  The 2001 CAP application is
available on Heritage Preservation's web site at www.heritagepreservation.org.  To
