Hi Robin,

long time ago I was writing my Ph.D. thesis on "James Sharples und das Zertifikat der A.S.E. Studien zur Bildkultur der Britischen Gewerkschaften." It was dealing (unfortunately totally in German) in large parts not on the union member and smith James Sharples who invented rhe certificate of the A.S.E., the later A.U.E.W., but on its visual context: the visual culture (membership certificates, banners, badges - from about 1700-1970) of British Trade Unions. The illustrations are terrible and the badges were metal ones, and caused not conservational problems these days. Do you have this book in your library?

Best regards
