Hello Jennifer,

I understand your position very well. After finishing my MA in Art
History, I relocated to Omaha from a much larger city (Toronto). I
wanted a job in an art museum, but my problem was having *no*
connections in the Omaha arts community. With only a handful of art
museums in Omaha, I got myself a full-time job with a tolerable retail
chain -- books, one of my passions -- and kept sending letters/CVs to
provide updates about new conference presentations, publications, etc.
Eventually, a new position was created at Joslyn Art Museum that matched
precisely my background.

So, my take on the whole affair with hindsight? Persistence, patience
and ol' fashioned luck paid off.

Sincerely,

Jay Heuman, Visitor & Volunteer Services Coordinator
