Laura,
I suspect that there is not a lot out there yet -- but for starters
you might try UNESCO's 1992 Charter of Courmayeur, which deals with
this subject. Several of these UNESCO documents are included in the
gopher and web server of the International Council on Monuments and
Sites (ICOMOS) at the addresses noted below.
