P.S. There was an old US National Museum but it ceased existing in ca.
1835.  The Smithsonian has archival files that provide some information
on it. One can contact the Smithsonian Archives but I do not have their
address.  It would, I'm certain, be found in the WORLD OF LEARNING,
accessible in most libraries.
