Sometime back, we talked about good books for children
that discuss museums. This weekend, I checked out
three books for my 4- and 6-year old grandchildren
without them in tow at the library. One was the book
in the subject line.

It's targeted for the younger set, and I have to tell
you that both children truly enjoyed it, but it
brought such sincere belly laughs from my grandson
(the elder of the two), that I thought I should pass
the word on to those of you who have an interest in
museum-related books and things to stock in your gift
store.

Both of the kids have been "raised" so far in museums,
so they are not strangers to the concept. When my
grandson read about the bones of a mastodon being
trained to sit like the little boy in the story's dog,
he howled. He also got a good tickle out of the
concept of having a moat in one's front yard to keep
door-to-door salesmen away.

It was short, sweet, and great fun for us all.
