Hi Laura. I'm gearing up for a new semester and plan to have my students
write grants. The Illinois Association of Museums has grants for small
museums. One of the categories is Conservation Support. The grant is up to
$500 for equipment or paying a conservator. The equipment requires a 1 to1
match in dollars. The conservator requires a 1 to 1 match in either dollars
or in-kind donations. I'm not sure what IAM means by in-kind donations, but
my question is, could a small museum use this kind of a grant to get
recommendations from a conservator about preservation needs, and then use
it in the next NEH cycle to apply for a preservation grant? Thanks.
Pat Miller
P.S. are there any major changes in the upcoming preservation grants that I
should know about?
