Details of Prof. Whitfield lecture at the GBCC in London in September:

Two centuries after it first arrived in Britain,
a splendid silk handroll painting of flowers and insects
was acquired in November 1998 by the British Museum,
with generous assistance from the National Art Collections Fund.

In this lecture, illustrated with slides, Professor Roderick Whitfield
unlocks the mysteries of the scroll and its author, a previously unknown
Chinese master of the early fourteenth century.


Professor Whitfield holds the Percival David Chair of Chinese and
East Asian Art at the School for Oriental and
African Studies in the University of London.
A leading international scholar of Chinese painting,
he was the first to identify and publish the scroll,
with facsimile reproduction

of the Yuan Dynasty, 1279-1368. Seoul, Yekyong Publications 1993)
