This has been mentioned before, but remember, when you apply for jobs that are listed in AVISO you are competing with 100s of people who have seen the same ad.

I would suggest networking locally and taking jobs closer to where you are now, before tyring to compete for some of those other jobs you see advertised in high-dollar publications.

I can't over emphaisze the competitiveness of this field either.
