The Oakland Museum of California is seeking a Senior Security Guard to
assign, train, supervise and evaluate Security Guards who protect visitors,
staff and artifacts; and to monitor computerized security and safety systems
at the museum.  Duties include scheduling, supervision and training of
subordinate staff; development, implementation and review of security
procedures and policies; monitoring of security and surveillance systems;
development and revision of security formats for each changing exhibition and
special event at the museum.  Incombents are expected to exercise
professional judgement and skill in the performance of assignments.

Qualifications include knowledge of principles and practices of building and
grounds security; principles and practices of supervision and training; laws
governing methods and procedures of arrest including the California penal
code and City ordinances; electronic fire and security systems; basic
computer applications for security and lighting systems; first aid and CPR at
the instructor's level; public contact and community relations skills.

Must possess certification as a Security Guard by the State of California and
successfully pass a thorough backgound investigation.  Four years of
comparable experience including two years of lead or supervisory experience
and an Associate of Arts degreee in law enforcement or a related field are
required.

Salary range:  $3200-$4300 per month with excellent benefits.

The Oakland Museum of California is located near Lake Merritt in Oakland,
California on 7 acres of terraced gardens and galleries featuring the art,
history and ecology of California.  The museum is open to the public five
days per week offering a wide range of exhibitions and public programming.
