Museum Welcomes New Director

 The Alutiiq Heritage Foundation and its supporting Alutiiq corporations

will host a reception for the Alutiiq Museum's incoming Executive
Director, Dr. Sven Haakanson, Jr., on Friday September 8, from 3 to 6
pm.  The public is invited to join in celebrating Sven’s return to
Kodiak and his recent completion of a doctoral degree at Harvard
University.  Festivities will be held at the Alutiiq Museum with
refreshments provided by the Alutiiq community.  Haakanson, the son of
Sven and Mary Haakanson of Old Harbor, joins the museum staff this week.

 The Alutiiq Museum is a non-profit organization governed by
representatives of Kodiak’s Alutiiq corporations, with funding from
charitable contributions, memberships, grants and sales.  The museum is
located at 215 Mission Road, Suite 101 in Kodiak, Alaska. Current hours
of operation are Tuesday - Friday  9-5 & Sat., 10:30 - 4:30. Telephone:
