CALL FOR PAPERS

As part of the conference on Human Remains: Conservation, Retrieval and Analysis (November 7 - 11, 1999; Williamsburg, VA), we are organizing a session devoted to SOFT TISSUE COLLECTIONS. Human soft tissue collections present a number of unique challenges in conservation and display, and often entail difficult ethical and legal issues as well. This session seeks to explore a full range of human soft tissue collections, from desiccated remains to wet tissue specimens, and their recovery, preparation, maintenance, analysis, exhibition, and (in some cases) deaccession.

In order to be considered for inclusion in this session, we need to receive your abstract by December 15th, 1998. If you would like to submit an abstract (up to 300 words), please contact Dr. Paula Molloy ([log in to unmask]) or Dr. Karen Mudar ([log in to unmask]), Smithsonian Institution, NMNH, MRC 138, Washington DC 20560-0138. Phone: (202) 357-1899; (202) 786-2958; FAX (202) 786-2728. The conference organizers are planning on publishing a proceedings volume; if you would like to be included in this publication, your completed paper will be required by October 15th, 1999.
