I think perhaps Nicholas was referring to a lock of protest by museum
professionals in the public media, not just this listserve.  That same
passivity, the timid fear of confronting conservative religion's attack on
intellectual integrity in the U.S., sadly extends beyond the museum
community.  Defending intellectual plurality does not require pandering to
the clearly regressive goals of religious fundamentalism.  The outcry over
this creation "museum" should begin with the legitimate museum community --
but a debate over the rise of fundamentalism and theocratic leanings in the
U.S. should be mainstream and widespread.
