I don't know if you are interested in including the work of contemporary
artists in your exhibition, but if you are, the current exhibition of video
installation work from the collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern
Art includes 3 very compelling pieces by video artists. Each of the works
deals in some way with time, our perception of time and ways of measuring
time. My favorite piece was the installation by Bill Viola - Viola
projected a magnified, live image of the tip of a very slowly dripping pipe
so visitors watched in anticipation as a drop formed on the tip of the
pipe, then finally dripped onto a drum below. The sound of the drip hitting
the drum was amplified. It was mesmerizing.
