Here's your big chance - a trip to Australia - start planning now!!

The 18th general conference of ICOM will be held in Melbourne,
Australia, in October 1998. The conference theme is Museums & Cultural
Diversity - Ancient Cultures, New Worlds.

Formal proceedings will consist ofa plenary day, with keynote speakers
addressing the theme of the conference, followed by three days of
specialist committee meetings, an excursion day and ICOM's general
assembly on the last day. These proceedings will be complemented by an
extensive social program of receptions, events and site visits. The
opening event will feature a spectacular celebration of the performing
arts involving cultural and contemporary artists.

In order to attend the conference you must be a member of ICOM, however,
accompanying persons are welcome. The conference fee will be a round

March 1998 and early registration will attract a discount.

The conference will be held at Melbourne's World Congress Centre (WCC0
