Gary,

Thats a difficult issue, especially when it sounds
like in addition to the photo archive, you are trying
to tie in several other programs.  At a basic
inexpensive level, I would suggest MS Access.  Its
Visual Basic capabilities can enable one central
databes that can link to external files and programs.

With this in mind, you can look further up the
database ladder towards SQL engines, etc.  The San
Bernardino County Museum uses ARGUS for multiple
purposes: search, inventory, archive, analytical, etc.
