The University at Albany, State University of New York seeks applicants
for a full-time, tenure-track beginning assistant professor in Public
History.  Applications from candidates with experience in a public history
field and interest in seeking grants for projects and student support are
especially desirable.  the department also welcomes applicants with an
interest in digital history/documentary studies.  The successful candidate
will be expected to assist in the administration of the Department of
History's Graduate Program in Public History and to teach the survey
course in United States history, as well as more specialized
upper-division undergraduate and graduate courses.  Applicants with
research interests that address social and cultural diversity or that
include global and comparative perspectives on U.S. history are encouraged
to apply.  Applicants must have completed the Ph.D. by the beginning of
the appointment in September 2007 from a college or university accredited
by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized
accrediting organization and show promise of a distinguished career as a
scholar and teacher.  Interested candidates should visit the department

graduate and doctoral concentrations.  Applications should include a
letter of application discussing research and teaching interests, a c.v.,
evidence of teaching experience (including evaluations), and three letters
of recommendation.  Additional relevant materials may be requested after a
preliminary review.  Letters should address applicant's abilities to work
with and instruct a culturally diverse population.  The application
deadline is November 15, 2006.  The position is dependent on final budget
