The Canadian Museums Association is calling for applications for Youth
International Internship programs sponsored by the Department of Canadian
Heritage and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
These internships offer young Canadian graduates an "international" work
experience which is designed to optimize their chances of securing
meaningful long-term employment in the cultural or heritage sector, and
offer the organizations employing the interns an opportunity to develop and
highlight their programs abroad and work toward projects with an
international focus.

The following is a brief look at the YIIP program:

- internships are expected to last between 6 - 8 months

- funding provided by the program covers a portion of the intern’s
allowance and can contribute to the travel and accommodation costs of
participating graduates

- employers are expected to contribute in-kind or financially e.g. provide
appropriate training and supervision; job search support; arrange travel
and accommodation outside of Canada etc.

- a maximum of $12,000 funding per intern is available

The deadline for this round of internships is August 15 (with some
negotiated flexibility possible); interested public, private and non-profit
organizations working in the fields of culture or heritage are asked to
express their interest in this OR upcoming periods of the internship
program by contacting Sherri Helwig or Dawn Roach as soon as possible
(contact information follows).
