Synchonicity ... chance beyond normal coincidence.

10 minutes before I read the following message I was watching a movie
make-up artist on site here at Burnaby Village Museum working on a replica
human torso which was "opened" to disgorge giant bugs. He explained that
they had made a body cast of the actor, and the make-up people had added the
hair. It was quite realistic. I don't think it would stand up to daily use
by children however. If you want the name of the make-up artist I referred
to above, contact me off line at [log in to unmask],bc.ca

You have the option of taking a mannequin and cutting a hole into it. It
would be durable, but not flexible.

The film by the way is a made for TV 'movie of the week' starring Thomas
Calabro (ex-Melrose Place); Dean Stockwell (ex-hologram character from
Quantum Leap) and John Savage. Plot: Giant people-killing cockcroaches take
over an island off the coast of Maine, USA. The hero and his new girlfriend
defeat them ... or do they? (shades of Alien, The Birds, The Mummy - 1999,
Indiana Jones). For US Cable TV release.

... We want to create a hands-on display of a human torso that allows
children to understand the unusual nature of St. Martin's wound and how this
provided Beaumont with an opportunity for direct experimentation. Perhaps
some of you with science museums can suggest exhibit designers/fabricators
who are capable of creating this type of display. ... Phil Porter, Chief
Curator MACKINAC STATE HISTORIC PARKS
