For what it's worth, this information is taken from "The Cincinnati
Cabinet-Makers' Book of Prices for Manufacturing Cabinet Ware," Cincinnati,
1830.

A FRENCH BESTEAD.
"Made of cherry, six feet long by four feet wide, between the joints. . .
$7.50"

The other beds listed in the price list (cot, 'trunnel,' low post, fancy
post, high post, and field post) do not have any dimensions listed in the
description.

A cursory look at some of the early 19th-century high post and field beds in
our collections shows that the lengths run between about 70 inches to 74
inches (inside to inside rail) and the widths run about 43 to 50 inches.
