WHile I have no experience with the product you cited, I do use Polyglase,
made by Camger Chemical Systems, and it is described as "aliphatic".
Polyglase is widely recommended as a safe sealant for use in museum
environments, and it tests free of vocs and other nasties. On Polyglase's
behalf, I'd put in a plug for it - -it's also easy to use, no lengthy curing
period, washes out of brushes with water (it's water-borne, which is all
that evaporates as it dries), and dries clear and strong. (To be a

But I really don't know what aliphatic means, I'm ashamed to say ;)

Hey All,
It is Cape Fear Museum's practice to seal our storage crates with paint
which we give several weeks to off-gass before use. We are planning to
store framed works on paper in new crates and it has been suggested that we
seal them with Ace Hardware's Royal Gloss Enamel Polyurethane Porch & Floor
paint (a "solvent base acrylic coating") because it is waterproof and our
storage is in a basement subject to occasional leaks. The MSD sheet lists
the hazardous components as "Petroleum distillate, aliphatic" (I must admit
the last time I studied chemistry was in high school, and no, I won't say
how long ago that was). Has anyone had experience with this product? I
would appreciate any comments that can be provided.
