I acted as national coordinator for the U.S. portion of the International Counc
il of Museum's Documentation Committee  (ICOM/CIDOC) survey of museums using co
mputers to document museum collections.   Using the 1989 and then the 1992 _Off
icial Museum Director_ about 7500 survey forms were mailed in each year with ab
out  a 30% response rate each time.  The US survey results, along with those fr
om 20 other countries as held as a reference data base at the Canadian Heritage
 Information Network (CHIN) 365 Laurier Ave, West, Ottawa, Ontario K1AOM8, CANA
DA, 613 992 3333.  CHIN staff do monitor Museum-l and may pipe in with more inf
ormation.
