National Museum of American History Internship: New Media Program

The New Media Program develops a variety of electronic offerings including
online exhibitions, collections information, educational activities and
materials, resources for scholars, and a wide range of visitor services.
The program strives to create experiences that cannot exist in the
Museum's galleries and unite the best qualities of a Museum visit with the
flexibility and interactivity of online communications tools.

The New Media Program intern will be exposed to many aspects of the
operation of a world-class museum, including collaboration with curators
and museum educators, and work related to exhibitions, collections, public
programming, marketing, and public affairs. Intern assists with new media
projects including development of Web site projects, electronic
newsletters, and the SIguide, an interactive handheld to be launched
summer 2005. Tasks may include: researching and gathering content, image
scanning, writing and editing, compiling Web statistic, graphic design,
HTML programming, technology research, general Web site maintenance, and
miscellaneous office duties.

Supervisor: Matt MacArthur, Director, New Media Program
Qualifications: Advanced undergraduate or graduate student possessing
initiative, strong organizational and communications skills, critical
attention to detail, good general acquaintance with computers, and an
interest in American history or museums. Skill in using Adobe Photoshop,
Web graphic design, or HTML programming a plus. Interest or background in
using new media technologies for educational purposes a plus.

If you are interested in applying, please visit:
