Peter,

In response to your message, allow me to clarify some stuff.

ASTC on Compuserve is a _forum_ not a mailing list. A forum is similar
to a news group (threaded message base) with these added perks:
A file library for program and text files. (Binary and ASCII)
A conference area for live online conferences.

Even though these services can be handled via the internet, you can't get
it all in one nice easy to navigate package. And, as I've stated before,
you can limit the amound of time you spend online ($) by using programs
with offline mail/message readers such as the Compuserve Information Manager.

We (VMSM) are tentatively investigating extablishing a forum on
Compuserve and I have downloaded all the text files from Compuserve which
describe what is expected and what Compuserve provides. It amounts to
about 8 pages, so I will not post it to the list, but will be glad to
forward it via private e-mail to anyone who requests it. (Please send
your request to me [log in to unmask] with the subject Cserve Forums/Mark Vang
- please DON'T send your request to the entire list)

Also, if you send me a snail-mail address (VIA PRIVATE E-MAIL), I will
forward it to Compuserve and they will send you a introductory membership
package which includes a 15 hour free online credit. Compuserve has it's
own network of dial-in nodes so it's possible that you will only have to
place a local call to log in. They provide you with an 800 number to
find the nearest node.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I often obtain valuable and timely
advice on a wide range of topics using the resources Compuserve
provides... which explains why I have been so "energetic" in posting
responses to this thread. :)

(This thread it reaching the magnitude of the "Great White-Out" thread,
or possibly (do I dare say it...) the "Museums in Movies" thread!!!)
