We are also concerned and distressed that the ASTC chose a
commercial vendor for its on-line services. We've rented
exhibits from them in the past and are planning to do it again,
and have various other business with ASTC that would be easy to
do on-line. But we're not going to get Compuserve just to
correspond with ASTC.
 
As I understand it, the rationale was that Compuserve provides
an easy to use interface so that more people might be attracted
to participate. But, really, most of the users will probably be
professionals, science and technology professionals at that,
and we aren't scared of the Internet, are we? (I'm a historian,
myself, and I can deal with it.)
 
It looks like a bad decision from here.
