Museum Preparator and Exhibit Maintenance Technician
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has an immediate opening in the DAR Museum. Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance and organization of all museum storage areas, handling the physical rearrangement of the gallery and period rooms, providing technician assistance in the preparation, mounting and dismantling of exhibitions, tracking and monitoring physical conditions, and maintaining inventory information of collections in the database. Requires a BA in Arts or related field, or equivalent work experience; minimum 1-2 years experience in a museum or art handling setting required with experience and knowledge of basic carpentry skills, packing and moving artwork and other objects required. Knowledge of exhibit installation and picture framing and hanging is desired. Applicant must have excellent organizing skills including the talent for adapting space for storage uses, work effectively in a teamwork setting and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
