Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I realized after I posted that I should've
been more specific, so if you have any addenda to your previous comments, feel
free to repost. Further details below:

The leather is dyed (as best as I can tell). No red rot, but there is about a 2
inch skin in the surface of the ottoman. Its a luggage brown color with a
slightly textured surface--not as high as a pebbled leather, but it does have a
texture. The upholstery is still very supple but I think it's been sitting in a
hot dry area for a little while now because it's only 30 years old and I think
it should be a little more flexible. So I'm certainly looking for something that
will hydrate and condition, lift out surface dirt, and not leave a residue so
that you can no longer sit on it. The chair is only about 30-35 years old--a
Plycraft version of an Eames chair & ottoman.

Additionally, it's got some missing hardware. My husband has been tearing his
hair out trying to find replacement sliders and some washers for the base here
in New York. Do any of you know a good store (online is fine) that sells period
furniture hardware or acceptable, contemporary replacements?

Thanks!
Jackie
