Wishard Nursing Museum Internship
Spring - Summer - Fall 2000

Museum Description: The Wishard Nursing Museum was founded in 1980 by the
retired Alumni of the Wishard Memorial School of Nursing. The collection is
comprised of approximately 5,000 items that tell the history of nursing at
Wishard Memorial Hospital and in the Midwest. Housed in the original parlor
of the nurses' dormitory, the museum features many historical objects,
including medical equipment, photographs, and nursing uniforms. The
collection offers the museum student experience in collections management,
conservation, exhibit design and education.

Description of Internship: The selected applicant will have the opportunity
to gain practical experience and the necessary marketable skills to gain
employment in the museum world. Projects will be tailored to the personal
interests of the intern while meeting the collection needs of the museum.
However, responsibilities will be determined by educational background. The
intern will be expected to submit a report illustrating the project(s)
completed. Credit hours are available.

Who should apply: Undergraduates or post-graduates with significant course

Studies, Public History, History, Anthropology or other related graduate
