Our needs are many, but I will start with the most important ones. the
reason for our site. The area that museum will represent is one with a
history of watercraft usage dating to around 1800. Many underwater wreck
sites have already been located and documented, and we wish to provide a
safe controlled environment in which to preserve this part of our local
history for posterity. Our museum must have the onsite facilities for the
preservation of long-submerged wooden structures (mostly sunken watercraft).
I know this will require tanks for the structures as well as chemical
storage and handling facilities. We will be using Polyurethane and need to
follow E.P.A. guidelines for storage, use, and disposal of waste chemicals.
We will also need facilities for cleaning, evaluation, identification and
documentation of artifacts.
Anyone who could establish a dialogue with me on this area of expertise
would be of immense help.
