Tessa,

  The University of Kansas Museum of Anthropology has a collection of
puppets including early Indonesian
> rod puppets. Unfortunately I think the museum was closed due to budget
cuts. Contact the Chair of the Anthropology dept.  They may have access to
the collection storage and may be able to answer your questions.  Back in
1995 I worked on their puppet exhibition...
