Dear colleagues,

Cultural Connections--a consortium of educators from museums and other
cultural institutions in Northern CA--invites you to its December program:

Beyond the Walls: Tapping into Outside Expertise
Wednesday, December 11, 2002, 2:30-5:00 PM
Presidio Officers' Club, San Francisco, CA

One of the challenges of hiring help for a museum project is knowing who's
out there. This "Feast of Ideas" will showcase Bay Area museum consulting
services including designers, writers, planners, evaluators, and
fabricators. Come meet diverse, talented and experienced Bay Area museum
consultants and review their portfolios in an informal, collegial setting.

Mary Jo Sutton, the Bay Area Discovery Museum's Assistant Director for
Exhibitions, will speak about the challenges of choosing, hiring, and
working with consultants.

After her remarks, participants will be free to circulate among the
consultant "booths" to meet and chat informally with freelancers (who may
hold the key to resolving your workload nightmares!) Another unique
resource, the Presidio's 5,500 sq. ft. exhibition hall (which is available
for rental), will also be open for self-guided tours.

Program
2:00-2:30 Arrival/Check-in
2:30-2:45 Welcome and Announcements
2:45-3:15 Remarks by Mary Jo Sutton
3:15-5:00 Networking and refreshments
