Dear All of Museum-L,

For those interested in historic house museums, here is the conference

House Museums:

2003, 10-12 October, Lenzburg (near Zurich), Switzerland, theme: "Facing and
Solving Challenges of Historic House Museums: Examples and Models"

2004, Autumn, Berlin/Potsdam, Germany, probable themes: "Marketing: Benefits
and Dangers" and "What to do with Empty Houses?"

2005, London, England, theme: "The Future of Historic House Museums in the
21st Century: Survival and Sustainability"

I am forwarding this message on behalf of Hugh Maguire, the new
secretary-treasurer of DEMHIST. For further information about the committee
and the conferences, please contact him at:

Voting members of DEMHIST are eligible to speak at DEMHIST conferences, but
all professionals are eligible to attend. We hope you join DEMHIST as a
voting member (contact your national ICOM office), and participate actively
in the committee's activities geared to finding solutions to problems
particular to historic house museums, and to improving the local, national,
and international visibility of historic house museums in order to improve
relations with the community and to increase the number of visitors.

Please mark the DEMHIST conferences on your calendar, and plan to
participate. We look forward to seeing you there. Thank you, and best
regards,

Star Meyer

P.S., the Acts of the 2000 conference ( Genoa; on ways to present historic
house museums) and the Acts of the 2001 conference (Barcelona; on new forms
of management for historic house museums) are available from DEMHIST; the
Acts of the recent 2002 conference (Amsterdam; on historic house museums as
witnesses of national and local identities) are forthcoming, thank you.
