POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
CONNER MUSEUM
CURATOR ASSISTANT

OPENING:September 19, 2001
CLOSING:October 2, 2001

SALARY: $6.00 per hour
STATUS: Part-time, Temporary
19 hrs. per week


JOB DESCRIPTION

Provides assistance to the Museum Curator with the registration of museum
objects, collection management and care, and the production, research and
installation of exhibits.


JOB DUTIES

1.Enters artifact information into collection database.
2.Oversees exhibit lighting, maintenance and care.
3.Assists the Museum Curator in all aspects of collection management and
registration.
4.Assists the Museum Curator with installation or upgrade of exhibits.
5.In rotation with other staff will work Saturdays on a scheduled basis.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS.  Must have high school diploma or GED.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written),
organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail, and the
ability to meet deadlines.  Must function effectively with a diverse
population.  Experience with Macintosh computers and with databases,
preferably File Maker Pro is preferred.  Available to work a varied schedule,
not always within the 8 to 5 time frame, and rotating weekend's hours. Prefer
B.A. or B.S. degree and previous museum experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, stooping, climbing, and walking are required.  May
be required to lift, carry, push, or pull over 50 lbs.

The above duties may not be performed in every position with this title and
the above functions may not include all related duties that might be
performed.  Requires physical activities supportive of the above job duties.
