A few years ago here in Canada, our national museums all went looking for new database suppliers, and as a result of reviewing dozens of systems the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN) posted on-line the various findings. The results of their Collections Management Software Review is available on their website at this address:
http://www.chin.gc.ca/English/Collections_Management/Software_Review/index.html

They looked at KE Emu, PastPerfect, MINISS, Multi MIMSY, and a number of other systems and did comparative anaysis all of which is available on their website.

Here at my museum we went with KE Emu for artifacts and GESICA for the library and archive collections.
