Hi all,

I will be finishing school next may (2002--watch out world here I come). At that point I would
like to transition into a museum educator job as well. However, I have two strikes against me.
1.) a degree in Public History not museum studies (ok thats more of a foul than a strike) 2.) no
formal educational degree (although I have lots of informal education stuff).

But my homerun in my pocket is my knowledge of distance learning. I know thats a big hot topic
for museums. I have expereince in web design (hire me!) and online learning so I think that will
help me perk up some administrators ears. Plus, going into a history museum will be a bit easier
than an art museum or science museum because history museums (on the whole) tend to have less
knowledge of computers.

I will probably be getting one more degree/certificat though. I have the option of an offical web
designer certificate from Sessions.edu or a certificate in Distance Education from Capella.edu. I
dont know if they are good places or not (anyone had experience dealing with or attending
either?), but it can't hurt.

One of the easiest ways to make youself a web head is to have your own site with your resume
(www.aaronmarcavitch.com--visit me!). It wont be alot, but it will at least make you techno
savvy. Saying that you can e-mail and such wont really cut it.

So--if anyone is in New England and really wants to hire a techno savvy guy who is also a
preservationist in 2002, keep me posted! HA! Just kidding...no spam...please!
