Greetings All,
We are in the planning stages for the installation of an HVAC system in our historic house museum (a 10,000 square foot 1859 Greek Revival home in South Carolina). One of the big hurdles will be protection of our collections during the installation. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has been through this process. Some of the questions we have come up with include:
1. How much of your collections did you have to remove?
2. Did you section off rooms as temporary storage areas and was that successful in protecting the artifacts?
3. Did you temporarily close? If so, for how long?
4. What measures did you take that you would NOT take again?

I realize every project of this type is unique, but it would be nice to anticipate as many bumps in the road as possible.
As always,
Thanks,
Fielding Freed
