Contemporary Museum, Baltimore seeks an Executive Director

The Contemporary Museum, Baltimore presents the art of our time in
collaboration with artists and institutions. In 1999, ten years
following its incorporated as a nomadic institution without walls or a
collection, the Contemporary Museum acquired a permanent facility to
enhance its community presence and expand the Museum's ability to
present year-round public programming. The Museum has recently adopted a
new Fellowship program in which curators and artists are selected to use
Baltimore as a laboratory for program development.

To move the Museum into this exciting new direction, the Board seeks an
experienced museum professional and innovative leader. Reporting
directly to the Board of Trustees, the Director provides overall
leadership for the daily operations of the Museum, including
administration, marketing, financial management, fund raising, public
relations, program development, human resource management, and strategic
direction. Candidates should have experience that demonstrates
leadership in the management of a dynamic organization in the process of
change and growth. A rich history of institutional collaboration
provides the Executive Director with opportunities for exhibition and
program development with leading institutions such as the Walters Art
Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Maryland Historical
Society.

Candidates should have an advanced degree in Art Administration, Art
History or other related field, strong communication and public speaking
skills, eight years experience at a senior level in non-profit arts
administration, and excellent interpersonal skills. Curatorial
experience and scholarship in contemporary art preferred. Please send
letter of interest, resume, and examples of scholarly publications and
professional achievement to: Search Committee, Contemporary Museum, 100
W. Centre Street, Baltimore, MD 21201,410-783-5722 - fax,
