MUSEUM MANAGER

The City of Kennesaw is seeking candidates for the position of Museum
Manager for the Kennesaw Civil War Museum.  The Museum houses the famed
steam locomotive General, which was used in the Andrews Raid on April 12,
1862, in addition to a wide range of archival documents, photographs, and
memorabilia.  The responsibilities of this position are associated with
general administration of the museum including development and oversight
of budget, interpretation, education, and exhibition.  The Museum Manager
works closely with the Kennesaw Museum Foundation to develop and
implement strategies for an ongoing capital campaign and continue
progress on a TEA-21 funded expansion project.  Qualified candidates must
demonstrate proven skills in communication, proper curatorial practice
and creative problem solving.  A B.A. in History, Museum Studies or a
related field is preferred.  Salary range is $25K-$35K DOE.  Send letter

MUSEUM MANAGER
Reports to City Manager

Duties
·       Historical research, writing and documentation
·       Creating and supervising the implementation of educational programming
·       Collections care
·       Staff selection, training and development
·       Cataloging of museum collections
·       Interpretive display research and design
·       Grant Writing
·       Public Speaking
·       Develop operational budgets
·       Serve as City liaison to the Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission
·       Inspect historic properties, development plans and zoning variances to
insure compliance with local, state, and federal historic preservation
requirements
·       Work with the Kennesaw Museum Foundation, Inc. to develop funding
strategies and grant applications and proposals for an ongoing
multi-million dollar fundraising campaign
·       Continue work with TEA-21 project which involves coordination with GDOT
for the design and development of the museum expansion project
·       Supervise all aspects of museum operations
·       Present public programs on aspects of local history
